Bill and Jeanetta Ray of Lavaca announce the engagement of their daughter, Jamie Suzanne Ray of Lavaca, to Adam Ray Schmalz of Charleston, son of Harold and June Schmalz of Charleston. A 6 p.m. ceremony is planned Sept. 8 at First Baptist Church in Lavaca. Ms. Ray is the granddaughter of Neva Ray of Lavaca and B.L. and Ellen Sharpe of Charleston and the late Doyle Ray and the late Opal Sharpe. A graduate of Lavaca High School and Westark College, she is employed by MediSav Homecare Pharmacies in Fort Smith. Mr. Schmalz is the grandson of Gus Adams and Betty Schmalz, both of Charleston, and the late Gus Adams Sr. and the late Raymond Schmalz. A graduate of Charleston High School and the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, he is employed by J&B Supply in Fort Smith.
