Elizabeth "Betty" Jasper, 96, of Fort Smith died Monday, March 15, 2004, in Fort Smith. Mrs. Jasper was born Sept. 10, 1907 to Satarinus Andrew Connaughton and Mary Matilda Zeiler. She graduated from St. Scholastica Academy and was a long-time member of St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church where she was a past president of the school's PTA. She once was also an active Cub Scout leader and belonged to the Free Ferry Garden Club and an Investment Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony George Jasper and is survived by four children, daughters, Mrs. Robert "Jan" Covington of Morgan City, La., Mrs. Michael "Mary" Miller of Fort Smith, and sons, William Jasper of Fort Smith, and John Jasper who resides in Tomball, Texas, with his wife, Judy. She also left six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Katy Limbird of Paris and Susie Kirchoff of Mobile, Ala. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Mike Connaughton.
Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel and Mass will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. The family requests Masses be offered for Mrs. Jasper.
